Embargoed press webinar for IEA’s first ever Electricity Market Report

This is the first ever Electricity Market Report produced by the IEA. Designed to complement other reports in our Market Report Series – which cover energy efficiency, renewables, coal, natural gas and oil – the new report focuses on developments in the world’s electricity markets amid the global Covid-19 pandemic.

The pandemic has reminded us that electricity is more indispensable than ever for modern societies. The new report includes analysis of key 2020 trends, as well as 2021 forecasts for electricity demand, supply, capacity and emissions – both globally and by country.

Electricity Market Report 2020 addresses the following questions and more:

• What will happen to global electricity demand in 2020 and 2021?
• What happened in the electricity markets of the world’s major economies such as the United States, China and Europe?
