LA COMPAÑÍA:
Energía Austral es un joint venture entre el grupo suizo Glencore (66%) y la empresa australiana de energía Origin Energy (34%). Desarrolla el proyecto Central Cuervo, en la Región de Aysén, además de un sistema de transmisión para evacuar la energía generada al Sistema Interconectado Central (SIC). Para este último, la compañía está evaluando una alternativa mayormente submarina entre Aysén y la Región de Los Lagos. El proyecto Cuervo, se ubica aproximadamente a 45 km al noroeste de Puerto Aysén, en el nacimiento del río Cuervo, en el área donde también se localizan los lagos Yulton y Meullín. Su potencia instalada se estima en 640 MW. Esta iniciativa permitirá desplazar del Sistema Interconectado Central, 1,5 millones de toneladas de C02 anuales. La empresa evalúa también las centrales hidroeléctricas Blanco y Cóndor, que son parte de su potencial desarrollo futuro.
THE COMPANY:
Energia Austral is a joint venture between the Swiss group Glencore (66%) and the Australian energy company Origin Energy (34%). it is developing the Cuervo Power Station Project in the Aysen Region, as well as a transmission system to evacuate the generated energy to the Central Interconnected System (SIC). For the latter, the company is assessing a mostlysubmarine alternative between Aysen and the Los Lagos Region. The Cuervo Project is located approximately 45 km northeast of Puerto Aysen, in the source of the Cuervo River, in the area where we can also find the Yulton and Meullin lakes. Its installed power is estimated in 640 MW. This initiative will allow moving from the Central Interconnected System (SIC) about 1.5 million annual tons of CO2. The company is also evaluating the Blanco and Condor hydroelectric power stations, which are part of its future development potential.
