En términos de capacidad instalada, AES Gener tiene 5.222 MW en operación, incluyendo sus filiales en el extranjero. La compañía pertenece en un 66,70% a Inversiones Cachagua Ltda., filial de la norteamericana AES Corp., una de las empresas globales de energía más grandes del mundo, con operaciones en 17 países. En Chile, provee energía al SIC a través de su Complejo Centro, con cuatro centrales hidroeléctricas de pasada, cuatro unidades turbo gas una planta de biomasa, una central de ciclo combinado a gas natural; dos centrales a petróleo diésel y cuatro unidades termoeléctricas a carbón. A ello se suma su Complejo Guacolda, a través de las cinco unidades termoeléctricas a carbón, propiedad de la filial Empresa Eléctrica Guacolda. La compañía es también proveedora de energía del Sistema Interconectado del Norte Grande (SING) a través de su Complejo Norte, con las Centrales Angamos y Nueva Tocopilla, ambas con dos unidades cada una; y la central fotovoltaica, Andes Solar. Adicionalmente, AES Gener tiene filiales en Argentina y Colombia. En total, la generadora tiene actualmente en construcción 1.083 MW. AES Gener se encuentra construyendo actualmente el proyecto Alto Maipo, consistente en 2 centrales hidroeléctricas: Las Lajas (267 MW) y Alfalfal II (264 MW); la Central Termoeléctrica Cochrane (532 MW), la cual abastecerá de energía al SING, y la central hidroeléctrica Tunjita (20 MW) que nyectará al SIN (Colombia).
THE COMPANY:
In terms of installed capacity, AES Gener has 5,222 MW in operation, including subsidiaries abroad. Inversiones Cachagua Ltda. owns 66.70% of the company, which is a subsidiary of the American AES Corp., one of the largest global energy companies in the world, with operations in 17 countries. In Chile, it supplies power to the SIC through its Central Complex, with four run-of-the-river hydroelectric power station, four turbo-gas units, one biomass plant a combined-cycle natural gas power station; two diesel oil power stations and four coalbased thermoelectric units. Its Guacolda Complex contributes to the SIC through the five coal thermoelectric power stations, owned by Empresa Eléctrica Guacolda. The company also supplies power to the Norte Grande Interconnected System (SING) through its North Complex, with the Angamos and Nueva Tocopilla Power Stations, both with two units each, and one photovoltaic plant Andes Solar. Additionally, AES Gener owns a subsidiary in Argentina and Colombia. In total, the company currently has 1,083 MW under construction.
